Annie’s Nannies February Nanny of the Month

Genessa CAttention, nanny community! We are tickled pink to announce our February Nanny of the Month, Genessa Cielo! Genessa is currently placed with an ANI family and does occasional On-Call work as well.

Her regular family had these kind words to say: “Genessa is a wonderful nanny.  All of Genessa’s actions with our child are done with love, patience, and understanding. She is conscientious, trustworthy, and responsible.  Our daughter looks forward to her arrival each day.”

Our On-Call families don’t hesitate to share her praises either! One family commented, “Genessa has worked out really well. She is very competent, knowledgeable (how to handle a 3 year old and expectations for a 3 year old), confident, and outgoing. [Our son] has really taken to her.”

Annie’s Nannies–January 2014 Nanny of the Month!

Julie Hales2This month’s winner is a graduate of Northwest Nanny Institute, has 10 years of Nanny experience, and is also an accomplished vocalist! Congratulations to Julie Hales on being chosen this month!  Julie was placed in a long-term job in 2013 with an ANI family.  The family recently had this to say about Julie:

“In her time with us, Julie has been incredibly dedicated to taking care of our daughter, Rose.  She approaches every day with a plan for activities and learning opportunities, whether it is reading together, singing songs, attending story time, making art, doing mat / tummy time etc.  Julie also keeps us updated on how the day went through a journal and pictures and it helps us feel connected even when we can’t be there.  Julie exudes positivity and just loves being around children – she connected instantly with our daughter and they have the most amazing time together.  I feel really secure and happy knowing that Rose is with her every day.    We feel so lucky to have her as our nanny and as a part of our family!  We don’t know what we would do without her!”

When asked about a funny thing a child has said to her recently, she responded, “Remy told me he want to take an airplane to preschool in France every day, because that is where his grandparents live!”

Congrats Julie! Thank you for all you do every day!

Gardening with Kids!

As the weather starts to change, it’s not too early to think about getting a vegetable garden started for the summer!  This is a great activity to share with children of all ages.  It teaches them about where their food comes from, and also about taking responsibility and learning to care for something.  Whether you sow seeds indoors or outdoors, or opt for buying plant starts, it’s fun to monitor their progress along the way and watch your garden grow!

There are several resources available specifically tailored towards gardening with young one’s, here are a couple of places to start: Read more »

Need help finding fun kid activities?

Check out a new website called Extraordinary Mama!   They are a local mom-run company that creates filtered activities calendars for families and also for nannies!    Their criteria for events are that they be fun, family-oriented and free or under $40 for a family to participate.  It is a subscription site and costs $25 for a year.  Right now they focus primarily on Eastside events, but are adding Seattle in the near future.   You can also find them on Facebook.
