International Day of the Girl Child
“Innovating for Girls’ Education”
But why a day for girls? Here’s a dozen reasons to start with.
In the words of the United Nations, today aims to “to help galvanize worldwide enthusiasm for goals to better girls’ lives, providing an opportunity for them to show leadership and reach their full potential.”
This year’s theme is focusing on “Innovating for Girls’ Education”, and as an all-woman company, we here at Annie’s Nannies strongly support the notion that all girls have a right to an education and should have the opportunities to dream big.
“There is … overwhelming evidence that girls’ education, especially at the secondary level, is a powerful transformative force for societies and girls themselves: it is the one consistent positive determinant of practically every desired development outcome, from reductions in mortality and fertility, to poverty reduction and equitable growth, to social norm change and democratization.”
