turn a chore into a game-maker, advanced puzzle putter-togetherer, board game losing skills developer, extraordinary Cinderella, award winning Tin Man, homework enthusiast and motivator, and lover of children of all ages. We placed Dolores this fall and her nanny family loves her.  Way to go Dolores!

When asked what her favorite holiday activity with children is, Dolores responded:

“My favorite holiday activity to do with children is to explore downtown Seattle. We take the Metro bus downtown and ride the carousel. When we’ve exhausted all the animals on the carousel, we take the monorail to Seattle Center and sit in the food court, eat our sack lunch and enjoy the entertainment. While we’re there, we also check out the giant model train display.  Seattle center is nicely decorated for the holidays and there’s so much to see, explore and discuss. When we’re finished exploring, we return home on the bus.”

Congrats again!

Annie’s Nannies October Nanny of the Month

DSC_0076 - Version 2Congratulations to Shannon Worthy for being chosen our October Nanny of the Month!!  We placed Shannon this fall in an infant nanny-share.  Her families noted that: “Her patience and intuitions about the best way to care for S have consistently been in-line with what we hoped for in a nanny, so I never worry about S when I am at work,” and “She is great with A and very easy to work with from our perspective. A always gives a big smile when she sees her first thing in the morning, which makes leaving that much easier for me!”

Shannon has been a nanny for over 13 years, and has had many long-term relationships with families.  She is what we call a baby expert, having worked with multiples and infants alike.

Five Fall Family Fun Activities!

Children Playing in Leaves

The arrival of the Pumpkin-Spice Latte means only one thing in the Annie’s Nannies office, it’s Fall again in Seattle. Before the weather starts freezing little (and big) toes, we like to take the chance to spend some time outdoors – enjoying the crunch of leaves on the ground and the sight of hundreds of orange pumpkins in a field.

1. Get Lost In A Corn Maze

One of the most entertaining fall family activities is getting lost in a corn maze! Our friends at Red Tricycle have put together this handy list of 10 corn mazes in the Seattle area. A great, inexpensive day out with the kids that guarantees a good night sleep! Your family doesn’t need much to have fun here – just a pair of gumboots and a sense of direction.

Our Top Pick: Carleton Farm! – Check out all the extra fun activities!

Annie’s Nannies: July Nanny of the Month

Alyssa Gilbert Nanny of MonthOur July Nanny of the Month is Alyssa Gilbert!  Alyssa joined our On-Call pool in June of 2012 and has also been working consistently for an ANI family part-time since December. This family says, “Alyssa has been wonderful.  She is punctual, reliable, so helpful, and great with the kids.  Thanks so much for finding her – she is amazing!” A regular On-Call family Alyssa works with commented early on that “Alyssa was wonderful – a real life-saver this past week. We would like for her to be at the top of our babysitting list!”

When asked to recall something funny a child said to her, Alyssa remembered when a boy she cares for asked her if she was a teenager.  When she answered no, he asked her if she was an adult. When she replied yes, he told her that she doesn’t look like one! Alyssa says, “That made my day!”

Annie’s Nannies: June Nanny of the Month

Jamine GilesDrumroll please…..our June Nanny of the Month is Jasmine Giles!

Jasmine has been working consistently in our On-Call pool since last September.  She has worked with children of all ages and many families have such positive things to say about her. One parent says, “She is our top choice!” Another family told us how wonderful it was to come home when Jasmine was their nanny and hear their sons’ laughter from outside the house. Lastly, one happy mom raved, “We just LOVED Jasmine. [My girls] took to her right away!  She arrived enthusiastic for the job and we will definitely request her again.” Read more »

Annie’s Nannies: May Nanny of the Month

Alison Perkins Nanny of MonthAnnie’s Nannies is happy to announce that Alison Perkins is our May Nanny of the Month!

Alison has worked in both On-Call and Short-Term jobs with us and will be starting a permanent position soon.  She is one of our most requested nannies and we have a number of families who consistently let us know they love her!

We recently asked Alison if she had any cute stories about children to share with us.  Here is her response:

“The cutest thing in recent memory that a child I care for did, was wanting to stop and sing “You Are My Sunshine” to the neighborhood chickens. It was so sweet. She leaned in close to their fence singing softly, so it was just a special performance for the “girls” as we call them.  Her voice even drew the neighbor’s cat over for a listen and cuddle as well!”

Our families are lucky to have you Alison!

Annie’s Nannies: April Nanny of the Month

Congratulations, Courtney Martini! You are our April Nanny of the Month!

Courtney has been taking consistent On-Call work for some time now and we have received so many positive remarks about her from happy families.  One family remarked, “Courtney was wonderful! She was very flexible with both of us coming in and out of the house at various times.”  Another happy dad said it more succinctly: “Terrific.  Loved her.  Personable, mature, overall lovely.”

When asked to share the funniest thing she’s heard a child say, Courtney responded with the following: “This morning, while on a coffee date with a 4 ½ year old, he looked at me and then down at his chocolate old-fashioned doughnut, and said, ‘Don’t ask me if this is good, because these are always good!’ Apparently I’m too predictable.”

We think you are fantastic, thanks Courtney!
